Derek
Ayling kindly booked Dave Murrell and his trio for
this night. The trio is completed with Jason Henson
and Dan Shepherd. They provided backing for Dave,
while he demonstrated soloing patterns and went
over some ‘comping’ techniques.
Since
returning to the UK in 1984 Dave has taught over
1,000 individual students of jazz and blues guitar
and many more in workshop and master class situations.
Dave has been guitar tutor for the past 15 years
at Chichester College, where he also teaches improvisation
and practical studies. Since being appointed Musical
Director of theYamaha Jazz Connexion in 1980 he
has continued to be in demand as a clinician at
various guitar clubs, weekend courses and, as a
teacher of improvisation, at educational establishments
both at home and abroad.
